Description

My 1971 Ford Bronco shown off in Boxwood Green is a nice weathered survivor still wearing a lot of original paint and a full mechanical restoration. Runs and drives perfectly. The engine is an aluminum head, roller cam 302 V8, an NV3550 modern 5 Speed Manual transmission, upgraded Borgeson power steering. Rare 16 Ford wheels with 235/75/16 Maxxis tires. Twin stick transfer case. New seat covers, dash pad and arm rests. Overall a nice turn key early Bronco with patina. I took the Bronco to Ouray last fall, ran a bunch of trails, and drove it back home from Colorado to Missouri. Here is a little history on the Bronco, also see the Marti report signed off by Kevin Marti and feel free to ask any questions. The 1971 Ford Bronco equipped with a 302 V8 and manual transmission is a classic American SUV with a special place in automotive history. The Ford Bronco was introduced in 1966 as a competitor to small four-wheel-drive compact SUVs such as the Jeep CJ-5 and International Harvester Scout. It was Ford's first SUV, designed to tackle paved roads and off-road terrains easily. By 1971, the Bronco had established itself as a rugged, versatile vehicle beloved by outdoor enthusiasts, ranchers, and those looking for a capable 4x4. The 302 cubic inch V8 engine was a popular option for the Bronco, offering significant power over the standard inline-six. This engine was part of Ford's Windsor V8 family and was known for its durability and performance. It produced around 205 horsepower, providing the Bronco ample power for everyday driving and off-roading adventures paired with the manual transmission available with the 302 V8 in 1971 was typically a 3-speed unit known for its reliability and straightforward operation. Combined with the Bronco's part-time four-wheel-drive system, this transmission allowed drivers to tackle challenging terrains by manually selecting the appropriate gear for the conditions. This has been upgraded to a 5 Speed Manual for increased performance and economy. The 1971 Bronco retained its classic, utilitarian design, with a boxy shape, round headlights, and a functional interior. It was available in several body styles, including a two-door wagon, a half-cab pickup, and an open-body roadster. The Bronco's compact size, short wheelbase, and high ground clearance made it exceptionally maneuverable and capable off-road. One of the reasons for the enduring popularity of the 1971 Bronco is its versatility and the ease with which it can be customized. Owners often modify their Broncos with lift kits, larger tires, winches, and other off-road accessories. The aftermarket support for the Bronco is extensive, making it a favorite project vehicle for off-roading enthusiasts. The 1971 Ford Bronco with the 302 V8 and manual transmission is now considered a collector's item, with restored and well-maintained examples commanding premium prices. Its blend of classic styling, off-road capability, and V8 power has made it an iconic vehicle in American automotive history.
